No one is there to judge you, or your child, and it's amazing how much more is communicated when you're not surrounded by four walls! And it's wonderful that your daughter is also learning about her environment. It also sounds like we are going through the same thing now. My favorite thing to do with the kids is to take them hiking. It works off a lot of energy and gives us fun time together as a family. What I love the most, is that it is just us when we are hiking. There is no one to judge us or my son. My daughter loves learning all about her environment when we are hiking.Tammyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10930376233629623527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5304286238611054455.post-44014791139860391582009-07-07T21:05:15.273-04:002009-07-07T21:05:15.273-04:00Thank you, Christine, for your wonderful ideas! Yo...Thank you, Christine, for your wonderful ideas! You are teaching your children to give to others, not only through their creative gifts, but also with their time.

And I love your idea of having them keeping a journal of the summer! Yes, I'm sure teachers appreciate your efforts, for by having them "write down their thoughts, feelings, and experiences," they are continuing to work on their writing skills. AND having fun at the same time. Thanks for your wonderful feedback, Christine.Maureen Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12575825605911662634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5304286238611054455.post-44971754351334406702009-07-06T23:33:13.309-04:002009-07-06T23:33:13.309-04:00Thanks for the add, grab your button instead. :)

And, many times I have a few neices join my "biological summer camp".

A few things we have done are:

(1) We have visited the elderly in nursing homes. We bring home made cards for them and fresh cookies.

(2) Cooking and baking lessons for kids. Great learning experience is measuring and following the instruction on a recipe. The greatest reward is eating what you made!

(3) Keeping a journal of the summer. Have them write down their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. This is a great way of keeping them in the habit of writing.

(4) Write letters to friends and family. For those who don't have email, send those wonderful works of art that are hanging around in your home.

Hope your readers enjoy these as much as I enjoy reading their comments and your blog. Thanks, Maureen.Christinenoreply@blogger.com
